Spring/Summer Fashion Trends 2012 !

Spring/Summer Fashion Trends 2012

With summer in the offing, it’s about time we get ready to get rid of thick layered outfits, long trench coats and weighty fabrics to embrace the comfort of light, flirty, cheerful trends that spring has to offer.

Here are the popular trends of spring/summer 2012 to get you prepped for the coming season!

Back to 60’s and 70’s

1. Peter Pan Collar

As we know, fashion repeats itself periodically and 2012 steers us right into the swinging 60s.  One of the elements of this fashion era in vogue this season is the Peter Pan Collar.

The Peter Pan collar adds a great deal of chic factor to any dress, top, jacket, jumpsuit … you name it !

2.Flared Pants

If you are the kind of person who reminisces about the past as much as you appreciate the present then flared pants are your right choice. You can rock this retro look with high pointed pumps or with platform shoes.

3.High Waist

Although low waist pants are still very much in fashion, high waist cropped pants also make their way from  the 70’s into 2012’s hot list.

Prints

Be it simple or intricate, soft or bold, classic or contemporary, printed fabrics can make or break a statement. Spring /Summer 2012‘s fashion is a blend of one or more combinations of these prints…

1.Stripes

Cocktail your outfit with a combination of thin, thick, horizontal, vertical or curved stripes to add drama to your look. Take into consideration the effect of the direction of the stripes on your figure. Vertical stripes are slimming and horizontal stripes make you look heavier and a combination of both might as well make you look sexy !

2.Geometric Prints

You may not be a fan of geometry but these circular, rectangular and/or triangular motifs on your outfits will surely fetch you an A+ for keeping up with the latest trends!

3.Floral

Now that we are done discussing geometry, let’s move on to botany with our main focus being ‘flora’. Yes, you are right … floral prints are extremely cute, girly and so much in verve this season. Think floral prints on sundresses, maxi dresses, minis , shirts or even pants !

It’s about time I change the topic lest I get too nerdy on you 😉

4.Bohemian Prints

Bohemian prints are all the rage this season if you would like to adapt an alternative organic look. Go for bright colors in bohemian prints to add some perk to your outfit.

Peplum

I happened to stumble upon this trend on runways, magazines, red carpets, streets, stores and couldn’t help but fall in love with it  each and every time. Peplum has the knack of adding instant drama to an otherwise drab/simple skirt , top , dress  or even pants.

Color Trends….

The color trends for this season include warm bright hues that capture the vividness of the coming season.

The must have color for this spring/summer is this beautiful, bright coral tangerine orange.

Go lambent with bright neon colors or stay classic with pastel undertones or mix them together ,for variety is the key this season.

LBD … How about LWD??

A little white dress (LWD) makes it to our chart lists as one of the must-haves for this season.

Lace

Laced outfits look extremely feminine and here is a chance for you to add that little bit of sexiness teamed with the delicate factor of  lace!

Hope this helped 🙂  Thanks for reading and stay tuned for further posts !!!

Oscars 2012 Red Carpet: Top 10 Best Dressed Celebs

The red carpet at the 2012 Academy Awards was the scene of an epic fashion standoff of Hollywood proportions. A battle royale ensued between the dazzling divas of tinsel town and there were only a handful  who survived the cut and made it to our list of the best dressed.

Presenting the top 10 dresses at the Oscars!  Let the drumroll begin !!

10.Rose Byrne

The bridesmaids star in her black sequined Vivienne Westwood looked sleek and sexy. Her hairdo couldn’t have been more appropriate for the dress.

9. Natalie Portman

Last year’s best actress winner wore a vintage red polka-dotted Dior dress and a beautiful diamond necklace. Well, there is no prize for guessing that she looked gorgeous as ever.

8. Penelope Cruz

The Spanish siren looked quite fetching in her grayish blue off-shoulder Giorgio Armani dress with a beautiful train sweeping the red carpet. This exotic beauty wore a beautiful diamond necklace and bracelet and her 50’s styling was reminiscent of one of my favorite style icons, the ever-so-elegant Grace Kelly!

7. Emma Stone

Although she wore an almost exact replica of Nicole Kidman’s  legendary Balenciaga dress  of Oscars 2007, the Easy A star couldn’t have looked more ravishing in her Giambattista Valli red couture gown with an extravagant bow detail at the neck.

6.Gwyneth Paltrow

Generally the caped crusader look is reserved for Halloween parties and sci-fi conventions, but Gwyneth Paltrow totally pulled it off on the red carpet with her resplendent white Tom Ford dress. Gwyneth took off the cape later showing off her perfectly toned arms!

5.Michelle Williams

It is no secret that Michelle Williams is an impeccable dresser and her coral Louis Vuitton dress at the ceremony only added to this reputation. The dress had peplum detailing originating at her waist. The color of her dress was exquisite and her Forevermark diamond necklace was my personal favorite.

4.Viola Davis

Viola  looked gorgeous in her emerald green Vera Vang dress  with her  natural small hair , earrings embedded with green stones , diamond cuffed jewelry and silver clutch. Nobody would have imagined that the simple, mellowed down characterization of her from ‘The Help’ would bring so much of sophistication to the red carpet !

3.Milla Jovovich

Milla Jovovich wore a white sequined Elie Saab dress with a padded shoulder that  gave a futuristic feel  to the otherwise  classic white dress without which it would have run the risk of looking a little bridal.

2.Jessica Chastain

The lovely Jessica Chastain in a gold sequined black Alexander McQueen dress with the baroque motif gives us yet another reason to believe that gold and black can hardly go wrong. She wore Harry Winston yellow diamond drop earrings and I liked the fact that she did not go overboard with a necklace.

And the winner is….

1.Stacy Keibler

Stacy Keibler, George Clooney’s  girl friend, looked stunning in her beautiful Marchesa  gold dress . Her styling was immaculate with her hair neatly pulled to one side flaunting her Lorraine Schwartz earrings. She was carrying a Judith Leiber  clutch. The dress has a twisted rose that added a feminine quality to it.
